Shared Service Centre of the Year Award for Unify project

By Rachelle Peard. Published on 7 July 2016

A shared service centre established by a flexible team of interims provided by Eton Bridge Partners and led by Mike O’Donoghue and Greg Russell has won the Shared Service Centre of the Year award at a prestigious industry event.

Organised by the Bulgarian Outsourcing Association, the annual Outsourcing Excellence Awards recognise success, business growth and leadership in the sector. This year’s event was attended by leading industry figures and government officials including the President of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Mayor of Sofia.

Unify, which provides unified corporate communications, was competing against such well-known names as Coca-Cola, Cargill, AIG and Ingram Micro.

“Special thanks to the Eton Bridge team who have been with us throughout the whole journey and continue to be a support to us.”

Mike and Greg’s carefully assembled team of independent subject matter experts established a multidisciplinary 320-person service centre to support ten process areas across fifteen countries. The project was completed within eighteen months and delivered overall savings in excess of €50m.

Although the project triumphed at the Outsourcing Excellence Awards, the service centre established for Unify is actually wholly owned and managed by Unify. We considered the pros and cons of insourcing vs outsourcing at a recent Eton Bridge Partners breakfast briefing, summarised in this blog: Disrupting Business Process Outsourcing and described in more detail in this white paper.  Click the links for more detail.

Our congratulations to Unify, all the interims who worked on this project and particularly to Mike and Greg who had the vision to propose this creative and cost effective approach to the project as an alternative to using one of the Big Four consultancies.
