Meet James

James is a Partner at Elysian Capital and is Chair of Eton Bridge Partners where he guides the board and helps support the senior management team.

In his role at Elysian, he has worked with companies across a diverse range of industries. He has a passion for developing great teams who, in turn, can build great businesses and is encouraged by the progress of the growing Eton Bridge team and the continuing strengthening of its culture.

James began his career with Unilever before completing an MBA in the USA. After spending some time as a management consultant, he moved into industry working in manufacturing, information services and distribution. Having held a number of managing director roles, he moved into private equity, joining Elysian in 2010.

Outside of work, James can usually be found by or on a sports facility or in the open air. A keen sailor, cyclist, runner and badminton player, he is also a qualified cricket umpire and coach. Off-field, he is on Badminton England’s Finance and Risk Committee and an avid watcher of any live sport but particularly England Rugby, Surrey Cricket and AFC Wimbledon.

Proud moment

Ignoring the obvious family life events and living vicariously through my sons’ sporting glories, my proudest moment was completing the Frankfurt Ironman Triathlon in 2013 (missing watching Andy Murray’s first win at Wimbledon in the process).

Childhood aspirations

I’ve always been fascinated by the past and wanted to be an archaeologist from the age of 9. I got as far as graduating in the discipline, but the lure of business had captured me by then. I now retain an amateur interest.
